Happiness Books and Productions (HBP) is an independent, 100% black women-owned company fostering quality storytelling. Our company is committed to discovering stories by underrepresented voices that entertain, inform, and innovatively tackle socio-political issues. We aim to create the space for constructive dialogue. We work with multiple media to broaden access for our audiences: book publishing (print and digital), film, television and digital platforms.

Our book publishing arm, Happiness Books, specialises in publishing and marketing new, emerging and established authors and translating best-selling fiction and non-fiction works into indigenous languages. In keeping up with the theme of developing a reading culture beyond the classroom in South Africa, Happiness Books aims to bring popular literature that is currently available in English to a wider base of readers in their native languages, as well as translating works published in indigenous languages to English.
